The Backstory Behind the Music

It sounds cliche, but I've been singing and picking up instruments for as long as I can remember. I'm lucky enough to have grown up in a house filled with music and some of my earliest memories of my Mum singing around the kitchen, my Dad and I singing in the car on the way to school and lucky enough to have been gifted that very first guitar.

Learning the guitar for the first time was a life-changing experience for me. It was like a new world had opened up for me. I could express myself in a way I had never done before. I spent hours playing, experimenting with chord progressions, and writing songs - and there are definitely songs that weren't hits. But the more I played, the more I wrote - the more I fell in love with music.

That's why I'm so excited to be working on the tracks that I have coming up in 2023, there's so much of that joy and passion that you can hear on these tracks. I've been finding my way back to the love of writing since university. Studying music and getting my BA in Professional Musicianship was an incredible experience but having that step away from an academic structure and back into the freedom to express myself - that's something I'm really excited about and I hope you will be too.
